Ivan Ramirez clinched the 2015 AMA National Hare & Hound Championship at the final round of the series, marking his first-ever U.S. National Championship. Ramirez went into the race with a large points lead and only needed to finish 17th or better to claim the title. He started the race in the top ten and by the end had moved up to finish 7th. “I really just took it easy and enjoyed the race,” stated Ramirez. “It was more like a long trail ride today just trying to play it safe and make sure I earned the title. I am so excited to finally get this title and want to dedicate it to my friend Kurt Caselli who is the man responsible for training me in this series.”
Charlie Mullins kept his winning streak alive with 4 Enduro wins in a row, while Ivan Ramirez took his second win in a row at the Sawmill Hare & Hound.
“I’m really excited with how I am riding at the National Enduros this year,” stated Mullins. “The course was pretty rocky today but I enjoyed it and I am glad to gain another win.”
“I had a lot of fun out here today and am excited with my finish,” stated Ramirez. “I am so happy to finish on the top step of the podium the last two races and hope to continue to finish here for the remaining rounds.”
Adding to Thor MX’s dominating weekend, Thor riders Kurt Caselli and Charlie Mullins won their respective races at the AMA National Hare and Hound and the AMA National Enduro.
In Johnson Valley, Calif., Caselli has wasted no time in reminding his competition why he is back-to-back AMA National Hare and Hound champion. After a DNF at Round 1, Caselli added a third victory to his season with a win in Johnson Valley and now holds a 15-point lead after five rounds. Teammate Ivan Ramirez bounced back from a tough race at the previous round to finish on the podium with Caselli in second.
Thor’s Charlie Mullins made it a perfect April, winning both GNCC races and AMA National Enduro races that took place during the month. His latest win at the National Enduro in Westpoint, Tenn. on Sunday was another dominating one, winning by 1 minute and 23 seconds.
Mullins’ teammate Grant Baylor continues to adjust well to his first season of the series, scoring a sixth-place finish in Tennessee.
Thor’s Kurt Caselli and Ivan Ramirez finished second overall at the Tecate SCORE International San Felipe 250, less than two minutes behind the first-place finishers. Mike Brown and Toby Price took fifth.
Racing isn’t finished for the week, with Thor’s GNCC riders gearing up for Tuesday’s opening round in River Ranch, Fla. So stay tuned…
